Built in 1935, Tinside is the finest seaside art deco lido in the country. Restored to its original state in 2003, Tinside offers a unique visitor experience, combining heritage with leisure and fun for the whole family. Tinside Lido is located below the Hoe at sea level. Parking is limited, meters are available along Hoe Road, as is disabled parking. The nearest public car park is located 10 minutes walk away. There is however a drop-off point on Hoe Road - simply follow the signs for Plymouth Dome. There is a Park and Ride service from Milehouse (near Home Park) which also calls at the Railway Station, Barbican and Plymouth city centre (short walk from Royal Parade).

The Elizabethan House

On Plymouth's historic Barbican, you'll find an ancient doorway that takes you back in time to Drake's Plymouth. Down panelled hallways and up spiral stairs, you will find yourself in the furnished home of an Elizabethan merchant or sea captain. Mind your head on the low ceilings and feel the creaking oak of the sloping floors as you explore the Elizabethan House. During 2006, you will be able to witness the creation of an Elizabethan kitchen and garden.

Merchant's House

A historic building tucked away down one of the city's oldest streets - the Merchant's House is Plymouth's largest and finest surviving example of a 16th/17th century residence. During the 17th century it was home to three Plymouth mayors including privateer William Parker, a friend of Sir Francis Drake. Climb the winding stairs and you will find the Merchant's House packed with Plymouth's history, a variety of old curiosities and everyday items.

Smeaton's Tower

Plymouth's most famous landmark and one of the world's most famous lighthouses. Now situated on Plymouth Hoe were it was rebuilt in the late 1800's after being moved from its original siting on the Eddystone rocks.

Magnificent Georgian house with Adam interiors, gardens and landscaped parkland. Saltram stands high above the River Plym in a rolling and wooded landscaped park that now provides precious green space on the outskirts of Plymouth. The house, with its magnificent decoration and original contents, was largely created between the 1740s and 1820s by three generations of the Parker family. It features some of Robert Adam's finest rooms, exquisite plasterwork ceilings, original Chinese wallpapers and an exceptional collection of paintings, including many by Sir Joshua Reynolds and Angelica Kauffmann. The gardens are predominantly 19th-century and contain an Orangery and several follies, as well as beautiful shrubberies and imposing specimen trees.

Living Coasts features a range of fascinating coastal creatures from puffins and penguins to fur seals and wading birds. There are reconstructed beaches, cliff-faces and an estuary.
